Coral Charms

 

Finally!!  After months of a little stitching here and there and feeling like I haven't made much progress, I have a finish!

 

Coral Charms of the La Petite Mermaids Collection, designed by Nora Corbett.  She was a joy to stitch until I got the millions of beads!  I honestly felt like it was a little over done for a smaller design....that is until she was all finished!  She sparkles and glitters and is so lovely.  I'm glad that I persisted in finishing her.

Valentine Pincushion

Last night I put the finishing touches on my latest project, Valentine Pincushion by The Victoria Sampler.  I just love Thea's attention to detail and her use of different fibers and beads.  I also love that she uses different embroidery stitches in her designs.  It gives me the chance to learn something new and put it to use.  I had not done a bullion stitch before and I do have to say that my first one looks more like a carnation (all willy nilly) instead of the rose it should look like.  I love it though and left it as it was instead of doing it over after I got a little practice under my belt. 

I'm anxiously awaiting the next pincushion to come out....hoping that it's done in green for March!  I haven't seen any kind of preview as of yet, but I'll keep looking.  March is my birth month and I always enjoy working on something related to it.

I put the year on the back of my work, but forgot to take a picture of it.  Here is the unfinished piece so that you can see what it looks like.  I added 3 small buttons for "feet" to help keep it clean when sliding it around on the table.

I also started a new project last night:  Counting Sheep by Carriage House Samplings.  I managed to get the Moon done and started on one of the sheep.  I'll show pics of that one soon.

Mermaids of the Deep Blue

Two daughters of the sea swim gracefully toward treasure lost.  Their tails sparkle like diamonds and emeralds.  Their hair flows around them like veils of silk.  They are real and fairytale combined to become beauties of the deep........Nora Corbett

4th off of the UFO pile!  Yeah!!  I'm very excited to have these beauties done at last.  These little sweeties ended up in the "pile" because it was about the time my eye sight started to change and I couldn't see the fabric well enough to get the beads on properly.  Not to mention I ended up with a king size headache everytime I tried to work on it. 

I did make two changes as follows:  Mill Hill 3049 to Mill Hill 2077 and Kreinik #4 152V to Kreinik #4 026.  It sort of looks like they are pulling the new colors out of the fabric. 

Although I am back in the UFO pile, this will probably be my last finish of 2011.

Mediterranean Mermaid

 

She swims to the depths of the sea to recover fragments of another mysterious world, hiding them away in her underwater castle so covered in moss and sea life that the treasure hunters will never find them........Nora Corbett

 

My 3rd project off the UFO pile this year!  Woohoo!!  Using a hoop for this entire project drove me insane.  I guess that's why I ended up throwing her into the "pile" shortly after starting her.  Normally I stitch in hand until I get to the beading, then I use a hoop.  I am very glad though that I chose to get her finished up, as she is very beautiful in person.

The Pleasures of Winter

Designed by Terry Redlin, this is a very lovely design of a family in their warm winter clothes riding in a sleigh filled with hay and drawn by two Clydesdale horses. They point out the migrating birds flying through the shaded sky of a winter setting sun. A beautiful home, barn and church are in the background.

This was a very fun stitch and worth every moment spent on it!
